Fruits of the Willows (Part One)

The Willows is a citrus grove with a dash of other fruits to delight the residents and visitors. A guest who stayed at The Willows ate a breakfast each day of giant grapefruits which she picked from the tree across from her guest house.

Please note: Everyone may pick from every tree EXCEPT from those trees that have been planted or adopted by the resident nearest the trees.


Swing Set comes to The Willows

On Thursday, August 27, The Garden Room will swing and sway to the music of the 40’s as the 16 piece Swing Set Band entertains. The band was founded in 2003 in the living room of former McDonnell Douglas engineer Brian Cameron and his wife Bobbette. He plays the tenor saxophone, and his wife is a very accomplished pianist and string bass player.

Hymn Sing Notes

The theme for the August Hymn Sing, 1:30 PM, Sunday, August 16, will be Mary Baker Eddy Hymns. We will be focusing on the historical context of these poems, mirroring something of the challenges and triumphs in her life when each of these seven hymns was written.


Institutional Committee Meeting Scheduled

The second meeting for those interested in the work of the Orange County Institutional Committee will be Thursday, August 20, in the Garden Room at 2 pm. The discussion will build on last months’ introduction of the State and Local committees and the Procedures Handbook by looking in depth at the Orange County Committee.


The Festival of The Arts and Pageant of The Masters

Join us on the bus for an evening at the Festival of the Arts and the Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach. For those of you who have never attended a performance, you are in for a treat. The Pageant of the Master’s 2009 theme is “Where art comes to life”. Live actors “perform” the art works, this year to show the inspiration or “the Muse” behind each piece, 20 in all. Isabel WakeMeet Isabel Wake

Everyone who has had meals in the Willows’ Dining Room will recognize this smiling face as she checks you in for lunch or dinner. Her Scottish brogue may surprise you – she is from northern-most England, from Newcastle-on-Tyne, close to Scotland. Isabel Wake has been a resident at the Willows longer than any of the the rest of us. She, and her husband Richie, moved to The Willows in 1985, after having been on the waiting list for 6 years!
