The Administrator's Column
September 2007
Who isn't ready for some cool fall breezes? I know I'm looking forward to them. There may not be the frost on the pumpkin that I was used to in the mid-west, but we do get our own color and flavor of fall here. I love it, don't you?
We're continuing to enjoy many fine activities and programs at The Willows. The Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach on August 16, followed by the Bill Marx program here on the 17th, certainly gives everyone something to enjoy. Both of these events were huge successes.
Let me say a few words about the mini-mart. Many of you may not know what it is.
First of all it is located between the dining room and the beauty shop. It is always open, and is based on the honor system. You can pay with cash, or sign a slip to be billed to your Willows account. There are all kinds of snack items and drinks, along with cereals, soups, and eggs. Recently we added milk and orange juice delivered weekly from Alta Dena Dairy.
(Alta Dena Dairy will also deliver milk and dairy products to your door on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Check with the office if you need a telephone number to call and arrange for this service.)
After the Friday luncheons, you'll find leftover sandwiches in the mini-mart refrigerator. If you missed the luncheon on Friday, you may still enjoy a sandwich on Saturday.
Resident move-ins continue. One guest house has been cleared for a resident, and another one will be cleared within the month. We'll be consolidating storage into one unit, so that we'll have several more villas to refurbish and rent. It' s an exciting time at The Willows. I'm grateful to be part of this wonderful growth period.
Enjoy the rest of these warm days, and try to rest up on your Labor Day weekend.
