The Administrator's Column
August 2009
We’re beginning to feel the warmth of summer, people splashing in the pool, children here visiting with sounds of laughter accompanying them. It is delightful!
As usual, there are progressive signs of continued maintenance and upkeep for your homes. We’ve completed the exterior painting and will be doing the streets early in August. The sprinklers are being adjusted in compliance with the water restriction imposed by the El Toro district in an effort to save the smelt fish. Water bills can be increased significantly by penalties for overuse. We will be diligent.
We continue to see new faces around The Willows and we certainly welcome each of them. They all know they are always welcome in my office as well as any of you who would enjoy a chat now and then.
I’ll be heading north to Alaska early in September, sort of a belated honeymoon. But, you all will be cared for as usual by the office crew, Susan, Jean and Ingeborg. Charlie will anchor for me, as always. Jean will be back August 3. We can never thank Pat Hay enough for her dedication to the Willows during Jean’s absence. She has gone way beyond the call of duty and any expectation. Many thanks, Pat.
Start getting your appetites ready for the ice-cream social sponsored by “the men of The Willows” sometime in September. There will be an announcement soon. Also mark your calendars for The Willows’ Christmas Candlelight dinner on December 18, 2009.
Enjoy your summer, either vacationing, visiting, or hanging out at home in the cool.Sandy Toner
