The Administrator's Column
May 2007
Are the rose bushes behind the Administration Building about the most beautiful picture you have ever seen? When I returned home from China, I was overwhelmed with the beauty of "our home." Unbelievable awesome beauty.
Did you like that segue into my China trip? It was awesome, too, but not in the same way. China is certainly a place of contrasts. The extreme modern and the antiquity there is hard to imagine. The Great Wall, the terra cotta soldiers, the tea plantations, the Forbidden City, the palaces, the jade, pearl and silk factories all contribute to making China a fascinating place.
We visited Beijing, Xian, Hangzhou, and Shanghai in 10 days. It was a whirlwind trip, but the best. Wish you all could have been there. Stop by and enjoy my photos.
Now let's get on to more serious business. As I mentioned at our resident's quarterly meeting, the painting of the exterior of the building is progressing. And we continue to refurbish the villas for move-ins. We are in the process of sidewalk repair, just completing 26 areas with a few more to go. In addition the tree pruning is on-going. Following all of these items, the next major project will be carport repair. I know you are aware of this need.
The second evening meal (added in March and April) has been successful. We will continue this additional five o'clock meal, probably the second Thursday night each month. Let's just see how it goes. We are always open to new ideas.
Let's all remember that our speed limit is 10 mph. Because there are no designated crosswalks, people may cross the street anywhere along Willows Drive. We want everyone to feel safe.
Please remind your friends that during the summer our guest houses are very busy. We will also be renting some of them long term. So anyone wanting to spend some time here might want to think about making a reservation soon.
May you continue to have a joy-filled spring. (No pun intended.)
